1995 - PhD Cell Biology, Duke University
1988 - BS Biology (Molecular Biology) Minor: Chemistry, San José State University
Supriya Jayadev obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from San Jose State University. She went on to pursue doctoral training at Duke University. Under the mentorship of Dr Yusuf Hannun, Supriya completed thesis work in the field of lipid signaling and obtained a Ph.D. in Cell Biology in 1995. Dr Jayadev continued her training in cellular signaling mechanisms through postdoctoral work in Dr Elizabeth Murphy’s laboratory at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. In October 1999, Dr Jayadev joined Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals as a Senior Scientist in the Department of Toxicology & Safety Assessment. During her tenure in Toxicology, Dr Jayadev had the opportunity to take on roles with increasing responsibility. She established the Mechanistic Toxicology group and led efforts in the areas of Molecular Toxicology, Immunotoxicology and In Vitro Toxicology. In November 2008, Dr Jayadev transitioned into the Boehringer Ingelheim’s research organization, taking on the role of Executive Director, Research Operations. In this role Supriya was responsible for defining and implementing operational excellence, best practices and strategic change to maximize research productivity. Dr Jayadev was a member of the Research Leadership Team and also Interim head of Ridgefield Cardiometabolic Diseases Research.
Dr Jayadev has authored or been a co-author on more than 20 peer-reviewed papers: 5 as first author and 2 as senior author. Dr Jayadev has also authored 4 book chapters. Dr Jayadev's publications have been in high-tier peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Biological Chemistry and Toxicological Sciences. Dr Jayadev has presented at various national and international conferences, been a keynote speaker at the University of Kansas and has participated on various Advisory Panels.
Dr Jayadev has been an invited Reviewer for: Toxicological Sciences, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Cell Death & Differentiation, Cell Transport and Metabolism, and the Grants Review Board of the American Heart Association.
Dr Jayadev has co-authored book chapters and reviews in the area of lipid signaling. Dr Jayadev currently authors press releases and marketing materials for a nonprofit organization that works in the area of human services (developmental disabilities).
